Chattels

« Back to Glossary Index

Movable personal property that is not permanently attached to the land or structure, which a seller may choose to include or exclude from the sale. In Ontario, chattels do not automatically transfer with the property unless specifically listed as included in the Agreement of Purchase and Sale. Common examples include appliances, window coverings, and light fixtures not permanently attached. Buyers should confirm all included chattels in writing on the APS.
