REBBA (2002)

« Back to Glossary Index

REBBA has been replaced by TRESSA.

TRESA (Trust in Real Estate Services Act) was passed in 2020 and came into full force on December 1, 2023. The core philosophy shifted from a broker-centric model to a consumer-protection model.

REBBA (Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002) governed Ontario real estate registrants for over two decades but was widely seen as outdated — it didn’t account for modern practices like buyer representation agreements, competitive bidding transparency, or real estate teams.
