The Trust in Real Estate Services Act, 2002 (TRESA), the Ontario legislation that governs the conduct of registered real estate professionals and protects consumer interests in real estate transactions. TRESA replaced REBBA (Real Estate and Business Brokers Act) and introduced significant reforms effective December 2023, including designated representation (allowing salespeople in the same brokerage to represent different parties without conflict), enhanced disclosure requirements, and strengthened consumer protections. RECO enforces TRESA across the province.
